This Salt Shaker was designed by Mr Sakai of Tama Art University. He was having difficulty with the modeling as the top shape was a rather complex curve. At that time the available 3D software at the university was not so powerful as to be able to fashion this form. Therefore with the use of Form Z this model was created to assist him with the visualization of this product.
The wrist watch that is displayed was created to express to the students at Tama Art University a method to create a model of a watch and how to render it.
The tennis shoes were also a modeling project to give the students a step by step process to build a rather complex model of curved forms. It was successful as one of the students used this process and created a pair of tennis shoes that won an International Computer Graphics prize.
This image is part of a series of studies performed for the firm called "Fudeya". They were a set of cups created by the designer Tadashi Takahashi.
Another project for the Fudeya Corporation and design by Tadashi Takahashi. The computer graphics were used as a tool to provide a surface design to a ceramic bowl. It was a rather complex operation as the surface mapping of the texture was not flat but curved and they was some detailded mtexture mapping techniques used to accomplish this objective.
The ball image represents the study of a simple but basic computer graphics study. Applying reflection mapping and transparency of a simple table cloth onto a spherical surface.
The image of Chaos was initially created on an SGI system (Silicon Graphics System) with Alias software using a set of shaders to produce the light blue sphere in the center. This image was then combined in Photoshop with a sketch image that was produced in the architectural office of Kikoo Mozuna.
The socalled Unconscious image was created while working in the office of Living Environmental Design during an office meeting. It was as if a stream of forms where coming out of the pencil in a natural free floating expression. These are usually called doodles.
A Castle was drawn for an animation project. It was for the sales promotion for a mansion here in Tokyo.
The initial Chaos card which was inspired by the images in the book "Chaos". Color and shading were added and it was the beginning development in a series of cards that have since resulted from this basic idea of circles expanding in space.
Another study in circles that could also be interrpreted as a buch of ballons floating over providing a festive atmosphere for a Birthday Card.
A return to the Chaos circular shapes with additional color variation.
The circular theme is continued witht he cutting of the shapes and applying color to give contrast to the resulting shapes.
A simple Christmas card for a couple showing to stars that beam bright and spread a wonderful melody.
A use of the subtlity of the Japanese color palette to create a sophisticated, mature look while attempting to create an attractive composition.
Like spreading droplets radiating out waves of joy that are merging together creating more energy and bringing happiness.
A birthday card that was an attempt to illustrate the waves of life represented in the vast sea with an overall impression of peace of mind, heart and soul.
The final birthday card image that uses a geometric pattern created in Illustrator that is particially softened by the curve background shape.
