YOKOSHIBA SPORTS STAND

Second floor: 230 sqmThis project was designed while working at Living Environmental Architects. The main design projects were the Viewing Stand and the Storage and Dressing room facility. The location of the site was previously a rice field. The Stand's image derives from a bird flying over a field protecting the people from the sun while the base is viewed as a machine (rice harvesting machine) used to cut the rice field. The Storage building forms a face or wall with the two facilities connected on the opposite side of the wall. These were initially designed to be separated and create a longer lower wall but due to earthquake requirements they were forced together.
