The S Residence is a house with upper apartments for a client in Sudan. The first two floors are the clientÕs residence while the upper two are for apartments. The concept of this building involves the relation of the sun and therefore each face or compass direction has a different means of translating the sun to the interior spaces. On the west face which is the most extreme there is a projection to further block the light but also to invite it. The north has balconies for people to spend time in the out of doors shaded from the sun while providing spaces for cool breezes. The east involves over hanging balconies that look can view the Blue Nile and the south has overhangs to eliminate the extreme summer sun. The interior concept was driven by a circular form that allows for flexibility in the room usage and movement for both the public and private residence.
